The Lost Coast

Friday, June 20, 10:00 pm, Victoria Theatre

The Lost Coast is a stretch of about 130 km (80 mi) between Eureka and Fort Bragg in far northern California. The Pacific Coast Highway, CA-1, ends just south of it, and US-101 bends inland around the wilderness. In the movie The Lost Coast, a camping trip to the Lost Coast forms a flashback backdrop for the events of a Halloween night in the Castro. Four friends wander from the street party to an indoor party, off in search of some Ecstasy, and into the pre-dawn quiet of the west end of Golden Gate Park, exploring the connections among the characters in the past and the directions they're heading. I usually run screaming when I see the words "non-linear narrative style" in a film description, but this one works. Highly recommended

  1. It is a good movie, with a lot going for it, but I found one thing lacking: http://www.splicetoday.com/moving-pictures/back-in-the-cloest. Do you agree?
