All the Colours
All the Colours is an important, groundbreaking film, telling the stories of people who speak out at great risk in Lagos, Nigeria, a violent city filled with homophobic vigilantes. It is a bleak life, as shown by the fact that the characters rarely even half smile. Unfortunately, the pace of the storytelling is so painfully slow that the film is, to be blunt, relentlessly BORING. The camera lingers far too long on people silently staring at the floor or off into space, with nothing to key the audience into their thoughts. I lost count of how many times I looked at my watch to see how much longer it was going to plod along. As much as I want to encourage people in places of great repression to tell their stories, I am compelled to give this film a NOT RECOMMENDED.
