An Arab man comes to New York City to visit his lesbian cousin. While they are at the bar, the New York cousin’s ex-girlfriend comes in. Not knowing the complexities of the situation, he suggests they sit together, with some awkward conversational moments. Cute, well done, recommended.

Mermaid was born male but has so much feminine energy, she uses ‘she’ pronouns. Milan, from Cleveland, is non-binary. They were surely sisters from the moment they met, and now do Ballroom together (in the House of Garçon) and help each other express and celebrate their true selves. This short documentary is a joyous testament to two powerfully fierce human beings. Definitely a MUST SEE.

“Ñaño” is a word from Quechua meaning “united by intimate friendship,” or brother. The film is a string of moments that don’t really cohere into characters or a plot line. It starts off with a scene of two men riding the NYC subway being inexplicably accosted by a guy wearing a Donald Trump mask and carrying a Ronald McDonald doll. The rest of the film seldom made any more sense than that. Not recommended, despite winning a prestigious award.

A woman grows tired of her life with her husband, so she leaves home to spend a crazy night clubbing and getting high with her son and a group of his friends. It was an interesting story with some real potential, but only scratched the surface. Recommended.
