#300Letters (#300cartas)

Jero and Tom hook up on Grindr on Valentines Day. They are wildly different on many levels — Jero is into cryptocurrencies, while Tom is a performance artist — but the sex is superlative, so they meet up again. And again. And again. Tom moves in, and Jero starts a “couple” channel on TikTok. They coast along smoothly until their one-year anniversary. Jero returns home, eager to celebrate the occasion, but Tom is gone, leaving only a gift box with 300 letters, one for each day they spent together.

It quickly becomes evident that Tom knew from the very first hookup that they were not going to be a real couple, but, for reasons that gradually become clear as Jero reads the letters, Tom chose not to tell Jero until the dramatic finale. Jero is, to be honest, a bit of a jerk sometimes, but never intentionally. Tom, on the other hand, is a calculating, manipulative asshole, in it for the great sex plus the mystery motive.

The story is engrossing, making you want to see how it unfolds. The dialogue is well done, witty without being contrived, funny but with some genuine emotional depth, and the romance and sex are both passionate. It will cast your mind back to your own exes, especially if one of them was a little bit of a Tom. It’s a must see.
