Touch Me |
Joey is a straight woman, living marginally, largely riding the coattails of her best friend Craig, or more specifically Craig’s monthly stipend from his wealthy parents. Then the house they share literally turns into a shit show, but without an extra assist from Craig’s parents, they can’t afford the massive plumbing job the house needs to become habitable. Meanwhile, Joey meets Brian, whom Joey recognizes as a space alien because of his penchant for track suits. It turns out that Brian has the ability to melt away all of your anxieties, fears, and traumas, with a simple touch. Joey and Craig go off to Brian’s compound for the weekend, and both become hooked on the magic touch and the promise of “interspecies intercourse.”
Brian is an apex narcissist who may or may not be plotting world domination. Things get wild, trippy, gory, sexy, and funny, sometimes all at the same time. Watching Touch Me is a bit of an acid trip, but the writing is sharp and the performances deftly straddle the fence between horror and comedy. It’s not for everyone, certainly, particularly if the “disturbing images” advisory concerns you. For that reason, I’ll rate it as “highly recommended.” But if the phrase “trippy campy sci-fi horror comedy” sends tingles down your spine, it’s a must see.
