Le paradis (The Lost Boys) |
Inside a youth correctional facility in Belgium, Joe (Khalil Gharbia, Peter von Kant, Frameline46; pictured right) is hoping to be released soon, but then a new boy moves into the cell next door: William (Julien de Saint Jean, Lie with Me, Frameline47; pictured left), a tattoo artist. They feel an immediate and passionate connection, which they must find a way to express. There is a long list of clichés this story could have fallen prey to, but it resists them, neither sugar-coating nor demeaning the situation the boys find themselves in. It’s a powerful story, well told, an amazing directorial debut by Zeno Graton. Definitely a MUST SEE.
