Queer Quickies” (2025 erotic shorts program)
Monday, June 23, 10:00pm, Roxie Theater
⚠️🔞 content advisory: sexually explicit content

Frameline description: Check your inhibitions at the door (and throw your hang-ups out as well) for this collection of erotic shorts from the past, present, and future that are playful, surprising, and explicit.

The angel 👎, dir. Dorian Wood, 2023, USA, 18 min.

The angel

Frameline blurb: This heady sex-positive exploration of intimacy, self-fulfillment, and the pursuit of pleasure is an embodiment of queer magic via an interweave of sex-positive rituals.

An eerie voiceover repeats, “Are you a killer like [Florida Governor Ron] DeSantis? Mass murderer like [Texas Governor Greg] Abbott? Death cult leader like [Mississippi Governor Tate] Reeves?” All this over a long sequence of images of people engaging in various sexual acts, including some graphic stuff well outside the mainstream. If you don’t know what “sounding” is in this context, you should probably skip this film.

I didn’t see much connection between the various scenes, and even less connection to anything else. Definitely not my cup of tea. Not recommended.

Fist 👎, dir. Romy Alizée, 2021, France, 3 min., no dialogue

Fist

Frameline blurb: A melodic and meditative exploration of the joys of the fist, from director/performer Romy Alizée (Les démons de Dorothy (The Demons of Dorothy), Frameline Fangs 2022; Fou de bassan, Frameline46).

Three minutes of super-grainy black-and-white images at about 2 frames per second of a woman reacting to being fisted. I didn’t care for the material or the visual style, so definitely not my cup of tea. Not recommended.

Mouse Klub Konfidential 👍, dir. James Robert Baker, 1976, USA, 15 min., 🌐 World premiere of the newly restored film

a bearded man’s face with rope wrapped around it and through his mouth
Mouse Klub Konfidential

Frameline blurb: The shocking life of a formerly fresh-faced Mouseketeer-turned-gay bondage pornographer is exposed in this UCLA student film by future Blonde Death videomaker and novelist James Robert Baker. Unseen since its controversial screening at Frameline2 (!) in 1978, Mouse Klub Konfidential has been newly preserved in 2K from Baker’s personal Super 8 print.

This faux documentary caused quite a stir with its allegations that one of the senior Mouseketeers recruited other boys for gay sex, that Disneyland was built largely with Nazi gold that had been smuggled to South America after the War, but most spectacularly that The Mickey Mouse Club was secretly a Nazi indoctrination operation run by a conspiracy involving Walt Disney, Senator Joseph McCarthy, Martin Bormann, J. Edgar Hoover, “Disney Jungfrau Obergruppenführer” Annette Funicello, and Dwight David “Goofy” Eisenhower. The evidence for these claims was several crudely altered photographs (of Mouseketeers with swastikas, and of Nazis wearing mouse ears) and some obviously forged documents. The allegations, although thoroughly false, were not without some kernel of truth: Walt Disney was in fact sympathetic to the Nazis before World War II, and there were many rumors of ongoing connections.

Our supposed former Mouseketeer, “Buddy Wilson,” turned to not just gay porn, but after quickly getting bored with romantic sex films, he turned to bondage and S&M, with lots of Nazi iconography, but lived in fear of reprisals from the Disney Nazi machine for having spoken publicly about that connection. It’s a pretty twisted tale, pretty well told for a student film of the 1970s. There are scenes from some of the supposed porn films, which are sexually explicit, but rather tamer than some of the other shorts in this program. Recommended for a warped walk down a funhouse-mirror memory lane.

A Night in the Life 😑, dir. Jonzu, 2025, USA, 6 min.

3 people chat in the foreground while a man gets a blowjob in the hallway in the background
A Night in the Life

Frameline blurb: A celebration of NYC nightlife culture in a more intimate setting. What happens before the gig, when you’re just having a pregame drink with the girls…

One guy is getting a blowjob while right behind him three people are discussing the social construction of desire and its evolution over the decades. Rather esoteric. The sex detracted from the discussion, and the discussion detracted from the sex, and neither one went anywhere particularly satisfying. Meh.

Orgy Every Other Day 👍, dir. Samuel Döring, 2024, Germany/USA, 13 min.
(also screens in the “Wild Combination Streaming Shorts” program in the Digital Screening Room)

multiple hands explore a torso in fishnet
Orgy Every Other Day

Frameline blurb: Set in New York City’s queer underground sex party scene, Orgy Every Other Day is a bold exploration of the importance of creating spaces where diverse genders can come together and discover each other with abandon and always careful, respectful consent.

Every other day (really, every day, if you look hard enough), there is a sex party going on somewhere in New York City. Here we sample a few of the LGBTQ+ flavors, past and present.

Of particular note to me as a radical faerie: a flyer for one of the parties makes reference to The Faggots & Their Friends Between Revolutions, a faerie manifesto from 1977!

If you’re a veteran of hundreds of sex parties, or a curious newbie, or anywhere in between, this film will give you a taste of the scene in The Big Apple. Recommended.

Romy et Laure… et le mystère du plug enchanté (Romy & Laure… and the Mystery of the Enchanted Plug) 🙄, dir. Romy Alizée & Laure Giappiconi, 2020, France, 12 min., in French

3 women in underwear cavort on a bed
Romy & Laure

Frameline blurb: Besties Romy and Laure move in together with their friend Elisa and Titi, the curious cat. One day, a shiny new butt plug mysteriously appears at their door. Its sexual power may be dangerous — will they be able to resist its extraordinary appeal?

This film is mostly constructed as a sequence of black-and-white still images, less than 1 frame per second. Neither the story nor the visual style worked for me. Not my cup of tea, not recommended.

⚠️ There wasn’t a disclaimer, but there is a scene with flashing lights that might affect photosensitive viewers, near the 9-minute mark.

The Wash 🥱, dir. Mike Feswick, 2025, USA, 14 min.

a sofa sits outside along a desert path in the dark, lit only with red light
The Wash

Frameline blurb: The Wash is a short docufiction set in a gay cruising spot in an open desert area in Southern California. Through an excavation of queer artifacts, local lore and gossip, the film documents an assemblage in flux. The Wash is a mirage of sorts. Like a junkyard of vernacular installation art designed for pleasure.

In some unspecified bit of nature trails near Desert Hot Springs, gay men cruise for sex, going so far as to build makeshift structures to block the wind. The film starts with a faux news report about a police investigation of something, but it’s never clear what. Then various men share stories of cruising in the area, and then the movie just ends. Boring. Not recommended.
