I Don’t Understand You

Here’s the setup: a couple of high-strung American gay men (Andrew Rannells and Nick Kroll) with painfully obvious personality flaws are trying to adopt a baby. As a couple, they’re somewhere between a total mismatch and deeply codependent. They go to Italy to celebrate their 10th anniversary, but run into bad luck, language barriers, cultural differences, and really bad choices, taking the situation from bad to worse to oh my god there’s a body count.

If you’re into this kind of high-tension screwball black comedy with a splatterfest twist, this one is well acted and filmed, so you’ll probably love it. Unfortunately, for me the whole story is fingernails on the proverbial chalkboard, with too little payoff in laughs. Unfortunately, there’s no trailer, but you can check out a cast interview. Make your own choice, but I can’t recommend it.
